Former Judge Giribala Singh’s Bhopal Residence Targeted by Burglars While She and Son Remain in Judicial Custody in Twisha Sharma Death Case
Burglars broke into the Bhopal residence of former judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh, both in judicial custody in the Twisha Sharma death case. The accused fled after confronting a police patrol, abandoning a bag containing stolen jewellery, documents, and other recovered items. Police are analysing closed-circuit television footage as the Central Bureau of Investigation continues its probe into the high-profile case.
According to the police, the burglars entered the residence and stole gold and silver jewellery along with several documents. However, while attempting to escape, they were spotted by a patrolling police team. The accused allegedly engaged in a physical confrontation with the officers before managing to flee from the scene.
During the chase, the thieves abandoned a bag containing the stolen property in an apparent attempt to escape more quickly. Officials confirmed that the accused ultimately escaped despite police pursuit.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap told PTI that closed-circuit television footage from cameras installed near the residence showed four accused entering the first floor of Giribala Singh’s house through the rear entrance, while two others remained stationed outside the building.
At the time of the incident, Giribala Singh’s brother, retired Colonel Ranveer Singh Bhadoria, was sleeping inside the residence. The First Information Report was registered based on his complaint, police said.
Rajneesh Kashyap, who earlier headed the Special Investigation Team formed to investigate the death of Twisha Sharma, said police are examining the closed-circuit television footage and conducting further investigations to identify and trace the accused.
Police recovered a necklace, several silver items, betel leaves, a slingshot, and some clothing from the abandoned bag. Officials stated that the burglars failed to take away any stolen property because they left the bag behind in panic while fleeing from the police.
The burglary comes amid the ongoing investigation into the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, the wife of Samarth Singh and daughter-in-law of former judge Giribala Singh. Twisha was found hanging inside the same house on May 12.
Following the incident, Giribala Singh and her lawyer son, Samarth Singh, were arrested in connection with Twisha Sharma’s death and are presently in judicial custody at Bhopal Central Jail.
Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, had married Samarth Singh in December 2025. Her parents alleged that she was subjected to dowry-related harassment soon after the marriage.
The high-profile case is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The burglary at the residence, which remains at the centre of one of the region’s most closely watched criminal investigations, has added another significant development to the case. While the accused escaped after clashing with the police, investigators are relying on closed-circuit television footage and other evidence to identify those involved and bring them to justice.
